So...as stated in my post from this past Monday, CJ and I decided that since Triniti was turning 6 months old and still continuing to wake up (and eat) anywhere from 1-3 times a night, we needed to make a change. This decision led to the title of today's post...Sleep Training 101. And I am extremely happy to report that Triniti is passing training with flying colors...definitely an A+. If I may, let me rewind and fill you in on the past 3 nights in the Colbert home...
Night #1 (Monday)...Instead of putting Triniti in our bed once she fell asleep, I placed her in her crib around 7:45 PM. CJ and I decided that I would not go in to get her when she woke up in the middle of the night. I had already decided in my mind that I wouldn't let her cry for longer than 30 minutes. I awoke at 11:57 PM to the sound of her cries. It took everything in me to stay in bed (as CJ happily slept right through it). :) For the next 15 minutes, Triniti cried off and on. After 12:15 AM, I stopped hearing sounds coming from her room. I fell back to sleep and woke up at 1:00 AM...still no sounds. I decided at this time to get up and check on her...Triniti was sound asleep! I smiled all the way back to bed. The next time I heard her crying?? Not until 6:00 AM. For the first night, I was extremely pleased.
Night #2 (Tuesday)...Triniti did not wake up at all throughout the night!!! She went to bed again around 7:45 PM...and CJ had to wake her up around 8:15 the following morning...12.5 hours of solid, sound sleep.
Night #3 (Wednesday)...Pretty much a repeat of Night #2, except that CJ had to wake Triniti up at 7:00 this morning when he had to leave for work.
So I have MUCH to praise God for...I prayed A LOT on Monday...and He fully answered my prayers (even better than what I asked for). Thank you God SO much!!!
So for everyone out there who was "deeply concerned" with the fact that CJ and I were allowing Triniti to sleep with us and setting her up for a bad habit that she wouldn't be able to get out of...I believe God is bigger than that. After 6 months of sleeping in our bed, I feel she has made the transition into her own bed quite nicely. CJ and I couldn't be any happier.

I'm glad you put her in her own bed - she will probably sleep better after she gets accustomed to it.
The pictures are cute - need to send me one so I can post it on my refrigerator with the other kids.

Yay Triniti! I am so glad Braden is such a good sleeper! He honestly can sleep anywhere and its seems Triniti can as well! Let's my little Princess takes after her brother and STTN at 6 weeks too!
WAY T'GO, Doll-baby! We're so proud of you (and thankful to God for His help!). You're a bonafide "big-girl baby" now! xoxo, Gram and Pappaw
I put this in the email, but I wanted to reiterate:
One of my friends was harassing me for quite awhile about Miranda still being on the bottle, and that was hard to take. (BTW, her very smart and well adjusted daughter is eleven YEARS old and still sleeps with her parents...) I have learned from this that as girlfriends, we all need to trust that we know individually what is best for our own babies. I know you will always do the best thing for Triniti.
Glad to hear it was a smooth transition! I'm sure its bittersweet for you both though! :)
