What a nightmare...

I was awakened at 3:30 this morning by a loud banging on our front door. Of course it startled me, and at first I wasn't going to get up. I figured it was probably somebody at the wrong door. I decided to get up and check through the door's peep hole...and I saw two Lansing police officers standing at my door. I couldn't imagine what in the world they wanted, so I opened the door. The first question out of one of the officer's mouths was, "Who is the owner of the Mustang?" My initial thought was, "Oh no...am I getting a ticket for something? What did I do?" I told him that I was the owner, and he said, "Ok, here's what happened...your car got hit, and we need to get some information from you." I then looked at my car and saw that it was smushed up against CJ's back end bumper. I couldn't see much else because it was dark outside, but I became worried and upset because my thoughts went back to about 11 months ago when my car got hit while it was parked in front of my house, and the driver who hit my car did not have insurance, so I was stuck paying my $500 deductible to repair my car. I still have not seen any of the money that I paid out, so I was very worried when I learned at 3:30 AM that my parked car had been hit once again.
The police took the necessary information and then told me, "Don't go out there and look at your car. It will only make things worse. Just go back to bed and get some sleep." YEAH RIGHT!!! I thanked the officer, closed the door, went back to bed, and just cried my little eyes out. I couldn't believe this was happening again (for the 3rd time, actually). CJ and I then did the exact opposite of what the officer suggested...we went out and looked at my torn-up vehicle. WOW! I don't think the pictures above show how bad it really is. My car is not able to be driven; the rear tire on the driver's side is flat and has a huge hole in it; the muffler is hanging down; the bumper is scraped up; the driver's side door only opens half-way; one of the front lights completely fell off; the front license plate fell off; and the list just goes on and on.
So here's the rest of the story...the girl who hit my car took off right after it happened. Somehow the police found out and tracked her down. They said she was on her cell phone, and that was the cause of the accident. I am just praying that she is covered under her insurance so that I can get a rental car as soon as possible, get my car towed and fixed, and not have to pay any money. I'll have to take CJ to work until I get a rental car...we'll both have to make sacrifices. Ultimately, I'm happy that no one was injured or killed...I know that is the most important thing. However, I am so sad because this is the third time my car has been hit in the 6 years I've owned it...plus I rear-ended someone once, so my car will be making its fourth trip to the repair shop.
It's ironic how the last post I made was about someone else's car getting hit...and now here I am, a couple of weeks later, writing about the same thing. Hmm...
On a better note...CJ and I have really exciting news...I'll post it at a later date...

That totally sucks! So what's the end of the story? Did the girl have insurance? It would totally not be a blessing to be stuck with paying out $500 again especially with the stuff associated with your exciting news... :-)
